Hi! Memorial Day weekend was amazing here at Lago Mar! The weather was perfect and the ocean was beautiful! I was actually at the resort all day on Saturday and ran into so many of my classmates from high school that I thought we were having an unofficial reunion. There was even a celebrity in the swimming lagoon but my lips are sealed.

Some of my old friends were staying at Lago Mar for the long weekend and they were planning to walk down the beach to the Great American Beach Party, taking place just north of Las Olas Boulevard. Jim Pancallo, our awesome General Manager, was down there himself to watch the induction of some of our Fort Lauderdale icons into the city’s Walk of Fame. This year, Ina Lee, Hugh Taylor Birch, Ron O’Brien and Tim Schiavone were honored. Jim said it was a neat event!

Back at the resort, Chris and I had a delicious lunch on The Sea Grape Terrace where we could watch the kids swim at the same time. Parents absolutely love this concept! We also have tables down the walkway to The Promenade Bar and those are great because the adults can have enjoy their lunch or dinner while watching their kids play on the playground. I don’t know of another place where this is possible. Chris ordered the South Florida Fish Tacos with blackened Mahi Mahi, Napa slaw, cilantro sauce and avocado relish wrapped inside a flour tortilla. He loved it! My favorite is the lobster and avocado salad with citrus champagne dressing, cilantro, mint, bell pepper, avocado, grape tomatoes and mixed greens. It is so good and so healthy. The kids ran down to the Ocean Grill for hamburgers and chili cheese curly fries.

After their food, digested they played tennis and then had a very competitive game of miniature golf going while Chris and I were having a margarita with my high school friends and listening to Craig play his guitar on the lagoon island. We all really felt as though we were on vacation and it had only taken us 10 minutes to walk from home. Lago Mar is truly paradise for so many people including me!
