lago mar resort beach crew fourth generation sailor August 18, 2021 1:51 pm

Hi! I hope everyone had a nice summer! We sure did at the resort!

I personally am very sad to see the summer end. Shortly, I will be taking Demi, my oldest, back up to Harvard for her junior year. Although we will miss her a lot, we are excited that she will be able to go back to enjoying a semi-normal college experience.

This summer has been extra meaningful to me because I was able to work alongside my kids at the resort. Although it will definitely be an adjustment for me now that they will be back in school, they are all excited to continue to work on the weekends throughout the school year. I especially want to give a shout-out to Dani, my 17-year-old, who worked six days a week most of the summer at The Towel Hut. She became close to many staff members and will miss them during the week. Sailor, my 13-year-old, will be missed by the Beach Department. He was assigned to get in both of our pools and scrub the tiles hours at a time. Sailor also mastered vacuuming the Lagoon Pool by himself. He is too young to be on the payroll so he got paid in delicious ice cream cones from the Soda Shop! The two of them are very much taking after their grandfather. His first job at Lago Mar was working with the Beach and Pool departments 60 years ago (check the historic photo wall for a great picture!).

Besides helping out when we really needed them, they gained knowledge of the inner workings of our beloved Lago Mar and also came up with several fantastic ideas for future enhancements to the property. Watch out, Dad!

We surely will miss the summer but are looking forward to Labor Day Weekend, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, among other fun future dates.

Be well and hope to see all of our resort guests and members soon!

Deb
