Hi! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of summer! I’m so sad that our beach days are soon going to be limited to the weekends. We have had a great summer! We spent the first month of summer traveling a bit and then this last month we have spent most of our time in Fort Lauderdale, either at the resort or exploring our town! We have dined out a lot because that is a luxury we absolutely cannot indulge in during the school year due to homework and after-school sports/activities.
We are so lucky to have many amazing choices of fabulous restaurants within a couple miles of our home and the resort. We do not have to go far to taste Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Indian, and the freshest seafood ever. The kids and I have been having a blast on our “dine around”. Some of our favorite places are, of course, Boatyard and 15th Street Fisheries. Everything is delicious at Boatyard, and the seafood cart is so decadent. 15th Street Fisheries has an awesome salad that I crave all the time with crab, shrimp, tomatoes, and hearts of palm. The kids love the Fisheries because they like to visit the Koi at the entrance and the hundreds of tarpon swimming around the dock. Chris and I enjoy the beautiful lighted bar, live music, and view of the Intracoastal. As a family, we love to head down to Las Olas and eat Italian at Louis Bossi. Sitting out in their garden, pairing a red wine with our pasta while the boys play Bocce Ball is a perfect evening for everyone.
After dining on Las Olas with the kids, a trip to Kilwins Ice Cream Store is mandatory! Good thing there is a beautiful boulevard to stroll down to burn off all of those calories. Speaking of calories, every summer we say that we are going to walk over the bridge and have dinner and then walk back over the bridge to go home. This summer we actually did it and it was awesome! Once we arrived at Coco’s Thai Restaurant we felt as though we were entitled to eat whatever we wanted and we sure did! We even stopped by Coldstone on the way back for sundaes. What a great town we live in and how lucky are we that both our home and the resort are so close to so many great spots for dining and entertainment. We are so grateful.
