Hi! I hope everyone is having a nice summer! I have some exciting news for everyone…
On June 16th I turned 50 and got engaged to Chris! He gave me the most beautiful heart shaped diamond ring with a rose gold band. His proposal was very romantic; we were on a private beach in Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas and he got down on one knee to ask me to marry him with the kids there! We are all so excited!
Green Turtle Club, where we stayed, is a magical place that is elegant but casual and very comfortable at the same time – just like Lago Mar. As soon as we returned home, the kids, of course, wanted to head straight to the resort. They were dying to try Chef Phil’s new lunch menu, which is up and running. Demi and Dani went for the Smoked Chicken Salad with tomato, corn, black beans, avocado, shredded pepper jack cheese and tortilla chips. Sailor loved the beef sliders and Chipper devoured the Pulled Pork Sandwich.
After lunch, the girls played tennis for a couple of hours and then we all went down to the beach to swim and receive the many benefits of seawater. I just wrote a piece about how healthy seawater is and, in the process, I had to do some research. I learned so much! For one thing, I did not realize how much magnesium is in seawater and how beneficial this is to so many different aspects of our mind and bodies. Magnesium helps promote well being by relaxing our muscles, reducing stress and inducing sleep! It also improves our skin, allowing for hydration and reduction in skin inflammation. I also found it interesting that seawater boosts our immune system by producing antibiotic and antibacterial effects due it consistency of vital elements, vitamins, mineral salts and amino acids. Hippocrates actually used the word “thalassotherapy” to describe the powerful healing effects of the ocean water.
We are so fortunate to actually live with a little beach right behind our home in Port Everglades and to be so close to the resort. The girls are planning to play a lot of tennis this summer at Lago Mar and after training we are going to definitely incorporate a swim in the ocean as part of our health regiment. Massages in The Spa and “clean” eating inspired by Chef Phil and his staff will perfectly complete our goal of staying in the ultimate shape this summer!
Oh, I can’t forget about yoga! We had a beautiful yoga class on our beach led by Keely from the Yoga Joint South, to honor International Yoga Day, and I am definitely going to organize some more of these classes for our members and guests in the future!
Namaste, Deb
