Hi! I have to say that one of the greatest joys of being a family-owned resort is watching the next generation become part of the story.
This summer, we have been thrilled to welcome my sons, Chipper and Sailor, as interns at Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club. Chipper will be returning to Georgetown this fall as a junior, and we are incredibly proud that Sailor will be joining him as an incoming freshman after recently being admitted to Georgetown. Dani is interning for PWC in the Deals division and Demi is working for CD&R, a Private Equity firm also in New York. We miss the girls a lot but the boys and I are really enjoying exploring many of the aspects of our beloved Lago Mar.
By immersing themselves in the day-to-day operations of the resort, Chipper and Sailor are gaining firsthand experience in the hospitality industry. Their internships have been anything but ordinary. They have assisted with inventory management in the Promenade Bar, Lounge, and our beverage storage area (“the cage”), participated in countless guest room inspections, helped oversee the design process and photo shoot for our new website, attended meetings with Expedia and other revenue management partners, and participated in yield management meetings, staff meetings, and employee training sessions. They have also spent time learning about many of the behind-the-scenes operations that help create the exceptional guest experience our visitors enjoy every day.
And the summer isn’t over yet. Stay tuned for more of the boys adventures as interns in their long-time family business!
