fort lauderdale air show May 8, 2018 3:21 pm

Hi! Wow, last weekend was very busy in our wonderful city! On Saturday, Chris and I took the kids over to the resort to watch the Fort Lauderdale 2018 Air Show. We chose to spend the day in a luxurious place and watch some of the show rather than try to deal with the crowds down on the public beach and be in the middle of everything. Once again, we were happy we made that decision! We loved sitting on Lago Mar’s private beach with cocktails for the adults and mocktails for the kids. Everyone was happy. From the beach, we were able to see the F-18 Super Hornet Duo, the USN Legacy Flight, and the Geico Skytypers, among others.

The weather was so perfect on Saturday that after the Air Show we decided to run over to Las Olas to the Palm Beach VegFest at Huizenga Park (in Fort Lauderdale). The boys joined in the lawn games, while the girls and I went straight for the food vendors and shopping. The girls were actually strict vegans for a while. Eventually, they had to stop because it was too difficult with the level of tennis they play, but the vegan lifestyle is still near and dear to their hearts.

Since it was also Cinco de Mayo last Saturday we decided to head over to Carlos y Pepes for an authentic fiesta. We are so lucky to live in such a fun town. Within one day we were able to watch an amazing Air Show, attend a vegan festival 10 minutes from the resort, and celebrate Cinco de Mayo at one of our favorite restaurants, which is only 5 minutes from our resort.

I almost forgot to mention, we did feature a special margarita on Saturday at the Promenade Bar to go along with the holiday. The Cinco Rita, made up of Tres Ageves Tequila, Cointreau, Fresh Lime Mix, and Lime, was so refreshing and definitely hit the spot on a hot sunny day. I had to try one so I could properly blog about it. (I just hate my job sometimes.) Can’t wait for Mother’s Day Weekend coming soon!
