Hi! I am so excited to blog about my most recent experiences with the Red Cross! On September 21, I was honored to receive the Red Cross’s Humanitarian of the Year award for Broward County at a beautiful event. “Dine and Dock”, which was held at Pier 66, started with a champagne toast aboard a gorgeous yacht and then the rest of the evening unfolded in the Panorama Ballroom beginning with cocktails, delicious food stations and even a sake bar. After the presentation of the Humanitarian Awards, there were several celebrities who were auctioned off! My dad actually spent $1500 to buy a behind-the-scenes tour of Channel 10 with Kristi Krueger! She came over to thank us and she is a super neat lady! She and I found out we are sorority sisters – Delta Gamma! She was even so kind as to mention us and put pictures of us on her 12:00 pm news show the next day! We are even going to try to plan a Delta Gamma event at Lago Mar, exciting stuff!
Shortly after the event, Chris and I flew to Charleston for the 2016 Red Cross Mission Summit. We enjoyed 3 days of meeting Tiffany Circle women from all over the country and attended various workshops and functions. This is my fourth year as a Tiffany Circle member and I absolutely love the group of powerful women I have had the privilege of meeting. One of the highlights of this year’s summit was a dinner we had aboard the USS Yorktown. As we boarded the ship, we were greeted by many men in uniform. They thanked us for our support while we thanked them for their service! We were addressed by Gail McGovern, the American Red Cross President and CEO. She is an amazing speaker and an incredible human being.
While I am sad that our trip to Charleston is over, I am excited, of course, to see the kids and to see our completed projects at the resort, such as the new water dispenser in our lobby with fresh fruit inside! Also, I can’t wait to hear the feedback we are getting on our new travertine pavers by the swimming lagoon and down the Promenade Walkway! Hope to see all of our members and guests soon!
